What Happens After Sending Proposal
Once you've built your proposal and sent it to the employer, here's what happens at each stage.
1. The Employer Receives a Secure Link
As soon as you send the proposal, the employer contacts you selected each receive an email with a secure magic link. The link takes them to a clean, employer-facing view of the proposal that shows:
- The plans you've included and your recommendations
- Side-by-side cost comparisons
- Employer contribution modeling (employee cost breakdowns)
- Any notes or attachments you've added
Employers do not see RFP details, carrier negotiations, competing offers, or your internal notes.
2. Track Employer Activity in Real Time
From the Proposal tab, you can see exactly where things stand:
| Status | Meaning | | --------- | ------------------------------------------------------- | | Sent | Proposal delivered; employer has not yet opened it | | Viewed | Employer has clicked the link and reviewed the proposal | | Responded | Employer has submitted their selections | | Completed | Coverage finalized |
You'll know the moment they open it — no need to follow up blindly.
3. The Employer Makes Their Selections
The employer reviews the options and submits their benefit selections directly in Monark. Once submitted, you'll receive a notification and can see exactly what they chose.
Employers cannot change selections after submitting. If they need to revise, they'll need to contact you and you can work with them on next steps.
4. What If the Link Expires?
Proposal links have an expiration date for security. If the employer's link expires before they've responded:
- Go to the Proposal in Monark
- Resend the proposal — this generates a fresh magic link with a new expiration
- The employer will receive a new email with the updated link
You can also adjust the expiration window before resending if you need to give them more time.
5. What If the Employer Has Questions?
Employers are directed to contact their broker (you) with any questions about the proposal. Monark support is available for platform-related issues, but plan-specific questions should go through you.
Tip: The live walk-through feature lets you share your screen and walk an employer through the proposal in real time — client-facing views update quickly so you're not waiting on refreshes during the meeting.
6. Next Steps After Selection
Once the employer has submitted their selections, you'll proceed to implementation and enrollment. Monark's role is the front-end workflow — implementation steps happen outside the platform through your standard carrier and enrollment processes.
